A Leased Virtual Server operates and behaves exactly like our Leased Server option. You receive all the benefits of our 85Under Data Center Facility (See Leased Space) without the upfront investment in the server hardware. Hypothetically, it can be compared to renting a single family home (Leased Server) versus an apartment in a shared building (Leased Virtual Server).
How it works:
85Under owns and maintains servers for the use of our customers. We then use a special system to divide and share each server to house several customers each. Each customer can operate their own virtual server as though it is a computer dedicated exclusively to them. It is important to note that Virtual Server customers will sometimes experience a decrease in performance when their server “neighbors” are making aggressive use of their portion of their server. However, by making more efficient use of the equipment, we can save on the cost of hardware, space and power, and therefore offer the service at a lower cost to you.
